Everyone was absolutely thrilled to have this opportunity. Al Snyder of Outfitters for Christ, provided the lodging and hunting area and made the entire event first class for all our youth. The state’s largest elk herd was the primary target. The hunt began with a hike to the base of the Flat Tops Wilderness where everyone enjoyed setting up all the necessary gear and had lunch. The afternoon hunt was on! Each of the youth had shots each day but all ended with missed shots. Too much excitement!

Although hunting didn’t go as planned, the mentoring was a great success! Each night the youth talked about their dreams and aspirations with the Mentors. The mentors shared life experiences and lessons with youth. The kids endured rough hikes and trying times. Each one was reminded that “we finish what we start”. Teamwork was the theme on many portions of the hunt. The youth all talked about this experience as being one of the best times they had ever had!
