One of our most anticipated events! Mentors and youth came to our cabin and camp grounds in Valhalla for this two day event. The hunter safety course was an an intensive 16 hour course covering the safe handling of firearms, wildlife identification and wilderness survival techniques. The final steps included a written test and a live fire shooting exam.

Youth and mentors also participated in various survival skills exercises. HFP challenged the youth to gather all they needed for a fire within five minutes. They were given one match to light a fire that would burn for five minutes without going out. This proved to be quite a challenge for some. Successful participants soon came to the aid of their fellow participants. Eventually all were successful!
